Karl Herrmann C.S.C is an internationally recognized Director of Photography in the movie business. He was the Director of Photography for television shows such as “Dawson’s Creek” and “Touched by an Angel”. Major blockbuster movies including “E.T.”, “The Right Stuff”, and “I, ROBOT” have also used his visual talents for their Academy Award winning visual effects.
Karl’s passion for stunning imagery has always been inspired by the quiet time he spends observing nature. His black & white imagery has been likened to that of Ansel Adams, one of his childhood heros. Museums, such as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, as well as corporate and individual collectors across North America include his fine art black & white prints in their collections.
His color panoramic work is a new incarnation of his vision that combines his movie viewing format with his passion for the natural environment. He uses a special technique when making these images, which allows them to blow up very large, yet maintain incredible detail. Karl’s coffee table book, ‘Pacific Spirit – Vancouver’, that highlights Vancouver’s incredible natural environment, became a Canadian best seller.
Karl lives in Vancouver, Canada. Examples of both his movie and still work can be viewed at www.karlherrmann.com.
